Night from the highway
Going forth and returning
The journey is about learning
The highway
It's my way
And I like it very much
In the quiet measured distances
The streetlights like beacons shine
Reminiscence of past existences
Crowd my mind
The night is quietness and stillness
Like the perfect foil
To my mind that's restless and fluttering
On the boil
I dread that day will follow
With its clamouring banal allure
Of profits, facts and all that is shallow
In the darkness we are more sure
The journey is about learning
The highway
It's my way
And I like it very much
In the quiet measured distances
The streetlights like beacons shine
Reminiscence of past existences
Crowd my mind
The night is quietness and stillness
Like the perfect foil
To my mind that's restless and fluttering
On the boil
I dread that day will follow
With its clamouring banal allure
Of profits, facts and all that is shallow
In the darkness we are more sure
